I made it to Bologna! Some of you might not have heard of this Italian city before, but I decided to explore Bologna instead of some other major Italian cities because Bologna is the food center of Italy. It is the capital of the Emilia Romagna region, which is home to Prosciutto, Parmigiano-Reggiano and a huge array of pastas. In Bologna, I plan to roam the streets aimlessly and eat whatever I want whenever I want, all in honor of living la dolce vita.
Today, on our aimless stroll, my dad and I came across a fantastic antique market. Markets are one of my favorite places to explore a city because you get to rub shoulders with the locals, talk to them, and learn a lot about their culture. I liked this market in particular because of its selection of antiques!
As you can tell from the pictures, I was happy walking around and stroking century-old chinaware, that is until my dad interrupted and said, “but its old. Why do you want it?” Completely oblivious. The look I gave him after said it all. That’s the thing about traveling with my dad, he always keeps me entertained and no matter how stressful traveling can be sometimes, he can always make me laugh.
Anyway, I left the market with the set of blue plates. I fell in love with the color and they cost me €18 for all 7 plates!
More to come from Bologna soon including: a food tour, gelaterias, and to-die-for pasta dishes! xoxo ciao!
